INTRODUCTION
TO EDUCATIONAL WORK: Comfortable, cost effective classroom
environments are critical to the educational process. Proper
heating, ventilation, and lighting provide an atmosphere
for alert and focused students. W感惹 designs affordable,
energy efficient systems for both new and existing classroom
buildings. Our project managers and engineers will assist
the school district to meet NYS Education Department (SED)
standards, insuring prompt SED approval and a successful
project.
Recent
projects include: Northeastern Clinton Central School District
($4.2 Million expansion), Lake George Central School District
($6.1 Million expansion and upgrade), Northern Adirondack
Central School District ($8.2 Million expansion and upgrade)
and Granville Central School ($17.3 Million expansion and
renovation).
Additional
Photographs and descriptions of these projects will be added
at a later time.

The
boilers at the Greenwich High School (right) required fast
track replacement while the school was in session. W感惹
provided a "summer" domestic hot water heater to meet the
kitchen and locker room needs while the full replacement
took place under a performance contract. Work also included
lighting upgrades in the three classroom buildings and bus
garage, replacement of four cast iron sectional boilers
in the Middle School, and entrance vestibules design.

The conversion from electric-to-oil fired hydronic heat
(oil tank pictured left) at the Middleburgh Elementary School
combined with a lighting retrofit program provided enough
energy savings to offset the bond payments for an extensive
reconstruction program, including new plumbing systems,
structural reinforcement, renovations to bathrooms, and
new carpets.

W感惹 designed the mechanical/electrical/civil systems for
the new marquee Maple Avenue Middle School in Saratoga Springs.
The hydronic heating system combines gas-fired condensing
boilers with over 90% seasonal efficiency and a conventional
oil-fired cast iron sectional boiler. The standby oil boiler
allows the school to capitalize on low cost interruptible
"well head" natural gas rates

Lighting at the Maple Avenue School took into account eye
comfort and energy efficiency. The computer lab (pictured

fluorescent lighting. W感惹 also assists schools with computer
networking, uninterruptible power, and other communications
applications.

Woodworking and other shops present special ventilation
and power requirements. This Maple Ave. School dust collector,

filters and a fire detection system.

The formerly all electric Lake George Elementary School's
new high efficiency condensing boilers (pictured left),
all the piping, and unit ventilator conversions were accomplished
while school was in session, immediately producing large
energy savings. The boiler room and main runouts were installed
quickly and the main circulating loop made operational.
The contractor in close coordination with W感惹 and the
school then converted the heating units in each classroom
one by one, such that no space was ever without heat.
