Examples Of Health Care Design Work HEALTH CARE INTRODUCTION: One of WPS's strongest suits has been the provision of mechanical/electrical design services for many area Hospitals and Health Care Facilities, including: The Stratton VA Medical Center, the Albany Medical Center, Childs Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, Saratoga Hospital, Ellis Hospital, Leonard Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital, and St. Clare's Hospital. design has also been provided for hospitals such as: Gifford Memorial Hospital (VT), Massena Hospital, Schuyler Hospital, Kingston Hospital, and Meyers Hospital (near Buffalo).

At Saratoga Hospital (left), WPS provided over $2 million dollars of mechanical central services upgrades. At Ellis (right), WPS staff designed the mechanical systems for the $30 million dollar expansion, as well as several subsequent renovation projects.

WPS hospital and health care services have included utilities masterplanning, energy studies, design and construction administration. Design work has ranged from complex lab renovations and "high-tech" clean room style Ortho operating rooms to simple office and lobby renovations. At the VA (left), WPS provided sprinkler design, chiller design, kitchen AC and hood design, laundry ventilation, master planning, and numerous renovations. At Samaritan (right), WPS provided numerous on-site and off-site renovations and studies.

The picture (left), shows the Ortho Surgery Room at the Glens Falls Hospital. The area within the operating field (enclosed by the ceiling hung lexan shields) was designed to and tested out better than a Class 100 Clean Room. As a result of WPS's creativity, this room is extremely quiet, despite the high air movement.

Mallinckrodt Medical Products: WPS has designed the HVAC and electrical systems for several "focused factories" in both Argyle, NY and Juarez, Mexico. The manufacturing areas were designed to clean room status with critical temperature and humidity control. A custom rooftop AHU for clean room was used. Many of the processes required specialty adapted hood designs as seen at right.
